Eclipse is our darkest, most intense decaf, a blend of washed and natural process sugarcane decafs roasted to build body, aroma and bittersweet depth.
Expect tasting notes of dark chocolate, black treacle and walnut. Drink it as a bold espresso, or allow yourself a penumbra of milk to soften the edges. A slice of parkin or a bourbon biscuit alongside it wouldn't hurt either.
Eclipse exists for people who love the comfort and intensity of darker-roasted coffee but don't always want the caffeine that usually comes with it.
There are plenty of decafs designed to be light, delicate or unobtrusive. This isn't one of them.
It's full-bodied, dark and satisfying, with enough sweetness and balance to stop intensity turning into bitterness. The sort of coffee that still feels like a proper coffee at seven o'clock in the evening, without giving you cause to regret it at midnight.
Prepare it carefully, sit somewhere comfortable and let the darkness wash over you.
Soon enough, the light creeps back in, the room opens up and the moment has passed.
