Five Years of Great Taste Award-Winning Coffee at Danelaw
The 2026 Great Taste Awards mark Danelaw Coffee’s fifth consecutive season of recognition, continuing a record that now stretches back to 2022.
This year, Danelaw received 2 star awards for both Langhūs and Mjólka as well as another 1 star award for Supernova Decaf, adding to a growing collection of awards across espresso blends, single-origin coffees and decaf.
For us, the real achievement is not one successful year or one standout coffee. It is the consistency of earning Great Taste recognition year after year.
Over five seasons, our coffees have been awarded at every level, including two coveted 3-Star Great Taste Awards. Aurora, our decaf coffee, received 3 Stars in 2024, while Mjólka, our dark roast espresso blend designed for milk-based drinks, received 3 Stars in 2025.
Both coffees remain part of our current range, alongside several other repeatedly recognised favourites.
What does a Great Taste Award mean?
The Great Taste Awards are judged through blind tasting. The judges do not see the packaging, brand, price or marketing story. They assess the product based on what is in front of them: aroma, flavour, texture, balance and overall enjoyment.
That independent assessment is useful because choosing speciality coffee can sometimes feel unnecessarily complicated.
Customers are often presented with information about processing methods, varieties, altitudes, roast profiles and brewing recipes before they have even decided whether they simply want a coffee they will enjoy.
We believe Great Taste recognition offers a straightforward signal.
It does not mean everyone will prefer the same coffee, but it does show that an experienced panel has independently recognised its quality and flavour. For anyone looking for award-winning coffee beans without needing to become a coffee expert first, it provides a helpful place to begin.
Our current Great Taste Award-winning coffees
Mjólka
Mjólka is our dark roast espresso blend for milk-based drinks and one of the most highly recognised coffees in our range.
It received a 2-Star Great Taste Award in 2023 before going on to earn 3 Stars in 2025. It is rich, balanced and designed to hold its flavour beautifully through milk, making it an ideal choice for flat whites, cappuccinos and lattes.
Aurora
Aurora proves that decaf should never feel like a compromise.
It received a 3-Star Great Taste Award in 2024 and a further 1-Star award in 2025. Carefully sourced and roasted, it offers the depth, sweetness and character we expect from any speciality coffee, without the caffeine.
Fjødr
Fjødr is our most consistently recognised current coffee, with awards in four consecutive years.
It earned 2 Stars in 2022, followed by 1-Star awards in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Its versatility makes it suitable for both espresso and filter brewing, and its long award record reflects the consistency we aim to build into our core range.
Singularity
Singularity is another example of Danelaw’s commitment to better decaf.
It received 1-Star Great Taste Awards in 2023, 2024 and 2025, giving it three consecutive years of recognition. It is a distinctive, full-flavoured decaf for customers who want complexity as well as comfort.
Five seasons of consistent quality
As a Yorkshire coffee roaster, we are proud that our coffees have continued to perform strongly through five Great Taste seasons.
Individual awards matter, particularly the rare 3-Star awards earned by Aurora and Mjólka. But the wider story is the breadth and consistency of recognition across our range.
Our Great Taste coffee selection includes espresso, filter and decaf options, from dependable everyday blends to distinctive single origins. That means customers looking for the best award-winning coffee beans can choose according to how they brew and the flavours they enjoy, rather than simply selecting the coffee with the biggest badge.
